Thank you for joining First Grade Parent Information Night. It was wonderful to meet new families coming from the Miller School, Robinson School and private kindergarten placements. I am always impressed at the number of returning families that participate for a second and third time. Upon reflection, please let me know if you have further questions. Copies of the handouts are available in the office.
Every year at this time, we are happy to have Westford Academy seniors choose to fulfill their internship requirement with us. This is a wonderful way to get some real world experience before heading off to college or the work force. This week we welcomed the following former Nab Stars back to our special school:
Violet Schroeder - Mrs. Loughman and Ms. Rosenthal
Robert Mc'ANulty - Mr. Weston
Julia Condry - Mrs. Quinn
Katie McKenna - Ms. Barth
Leanne Guilmette - Mrs. Grady
Our school community will benefit from this six-week partnership.
We look forward to a new PTO sponsored event next month. Please mark your calendars for Movie Night on May 4th. The movie, Paddington 2, will begin at 6:30PM. The cost is $5.00 per person with a family max of $20.00. Ticket sales are limited due to capacity requirements. Please return the bottom of the yellow flier with your payment ASAP. Checks should be made out to WEPTO - Nabnasset PTO.
The first distance learning assignment was sent home this week. It is due by April 28th. This first assignment serves to recover the 3/9/18 snow day. If students do not complete the distance learning activities, they will be marked absent for the first Saturday. The second assignment will be sent home on May 4th and is due on May 19th to recover the 3/13/18 snow day.
Bill Olsen invites Nab parents to meet with him to provide input on the next Abbot Principal. Parents can meet with him on Tuesday, April 24th at either 9:00-10:00 or 3:00-4:00 to provide input about the qualities that they would like to see in the new principal.
Next week school is closed for the spring vacation. I hope you have an opportunity to enjoy quality family time and a break from the daily routine. I look forward to welcoming students back to school on Monday, April 23rd.
Dear Nab Parents,
On April 25 and May 2, our students will be participating in an exciting classroom project for our school!
As you know, our special school continuously strives to emulate and encourage the importance of kindness acts. We also remind our students how we are all different, however, we are all in this together and we can make our world (and school) a better place!
We have arranged for each class to read the book “Only One You” by Linda Kranz. The students will then have the opportunity to partake in two projects inspired by the messages from this book. These projects will be displayed at the school and will serve as essential reminders to our students!
We are asking for two parent volunteers for each classroom - one volunteer reader and one to help with the projects. This is a short book that highlights MANY important and positive messages we know the students will enjoy.
Westford Destination Imagination Team Makes it to the Top!
This year 20 teams of elementary and middle school students participated in Destination Imagination (DI). Each team performed their creative, collaborative, STEM-oriented presentation at the Regional tournament last month, and they had a lot of fun doing it.
Westford DI is particularly proud of the two teams who won first place in their regional event and went on to compete at the Massachusetts state level. And everyone was overjoyed when one team won first place there, and is therefore invited to participate at Global Finals next month!
Please consider helping this Westford team, the 6 DI Dolphins, to travel to the world's biggest celebration of creativity in Knoxville Tennessee. This team now has a GoFundMe site because every small contribution helps these students and their families travel to participate in Global Finals along with hundreds of other creative student teams from 15 countries.
