Another week has flown by. It certainly doesn't feel like spring, but we are ever hopeful. A few students are wearing shorts and t-shirts!
It was a pleasure playing Bingo last night with pre-first and first grade friends. The excitement was infectious.
This morning we gathered for community meeting. I hope you hear more about the agenda:
Greeting - Mrs. Cunniffe's class taught everyone a Knock Knock greeting to learn last names.
Share - Mrs. Richard's class taught us words in sign language (yes, no, please, thank you, pay attention, line up, bathroom, wash hands, help and sit).
Students from the Nature, Animals and Environment Club announced their collection for animal shelters. They need support collecting blankets, towels, toys, litter boxes, food, leashes, beds, and crates. A collection box will be in the lobby.
Mrs. Heller's class announced the March Upcycle winner. Congratulations to Mrs. D'Amelia's class.
The following Box Top update was announced: 1,659 coupons were collected in March. Congratulations to Mrs. David's class for collecting the most coupons and winning an extra recess. So far this school year we have collected 13,310 Box Top coupons.
Group Activity - We watched the musical Kindness is a Muscle video.
Morning Message - The message complimented the work upcycling and recycling 1,538 pounds of paper this school year. We have saved 13 trees! In the video, we learned kindness is a muscle and we should flex it everyday. We reminded students that kindness matters more than we think. Being kind feels good and makes people happy, so we encouraged students to spread kindness with a smile, by joining someone that is alone, by offering a helping hand, or by encouraging someone having a hard time.
Remember, the online Field Day t-shirts orders and volunteer sign up end this Sunday night at midnight! Don't miss the deadline. The volunteer t-shirts will be available for pick up at school. This is the only opportunity to order and sign up. The link to both are on the website.
Next Thursday, April 12th we have First Grade Parent Information Night from 6:30-7:30PM. Parents of current kindergarten and pre-first students are invited to attend an informational presentation to learn about the pre-first, multi-age and traditional first grade options. In addition, an overview of the curriculum and intervention programs will be highlighted. I hope you will join us.
Did you have a chance to read the Home School Connection newsletter sent home on Tuesday? Have you checked us out on Facebook and Twitter this week?
Have a wonderful weekend.
