Nabnasset students and staff members showed their support today for the big game on Sunday by wearing Patriots apparel or red and blue. Go Pats! Check us out on Facebook.
Classrooms are bustling with activity:
Kindergarten students were identifying patterns on the hundreds chart, reading CVC nonsense words, and exploring movement in the science unit titled push and pull.
Pre-first students are composing and decomposing numbers to 10, they have reached 15 minutes of stamina working on literacy activities (word work, writing, listening to reading), and worked on creating survey questions, gathering and tallying their data.
First grade students are exploring patterns in the sky as they learn about the sun, stars, and phases of the moon. They are also using place value to determine greater than and less than relationships. Many mystery readers have surprised students!
Second grade students were sorting and comparing properties of objects, identifying the continents and oceans, writing their opinions, and snowshoeing.
Nabnasset staff members are dedicated to working with parents and meeting students where they are in order to help them learn and grow. We consider their experiences, learning styles, needs, and interests as we guide, support and motivate them. We appreciate parent involvement and partnering with you to ensure your children have a positive and productive school experience.
Mr. Weston has found many students are forgetting to pack sneakers for PE now that they are wearing boots. Participating in PE class is important for fitness, strength, building social skills and teamwork abilities, developing leadership skills, and having fun.
We have now added a fifth day to the school calendar due to the weather cancellations (10/30/17, 10/31/17, 1/4/18, 1/5/18, 1/17/18). As a result, the last day of school is Thursday, June 21st. Please keep this in mind when planning a vacation, camp, and other activities. The last day of school will be an early release day (12:20 dismissal).
Next week I look forward to the continuity and momentum of a five day week. On Thursday, January 25th it will be exciting to welcome second grade students to Math & Science Night (6:15-7:15PM). A special thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Smagula for coordinating the event.
Enjoy the weekend.
