Today was the 81st day of school. All classrooms keep track of the number of days in school. This routine lends itself to talking about numbers, counting, finding patterns, identifying place value, and thinking about numbers beyond 100.
Thank you to Mr. Bohonak for facilitating Pre-first and First Grade Math and Science Night. We also appreciate that several families lent a helping hand setting up and cleaning up. It was a pleasure to see so many families engaged in the various hands on activities. Pictures from the event are posted on our Facebook page along with photos from other activities this week.
Just a reminder, the school schedule changes next week. School is closed on Monday for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Also, we do not have school on Tuesday. The WPS pre-k - 12 staff have a professional development day. Most of the pre-k - 5 staff will continue focusing on professional learning communities. We will gather at Stony Brook Middle School in the morning for the second part of John Vander Els presentation. In the afternoon we will return to school for collaborative teaming. Professional development days are an important time for staff to slow down, refine, and reflect on practice.
Enjoy the long weekend.
