Are you ready for the weekend? I look forward to resting after a busy week.
The four RISE bulletin boards are beginning to show many shining stars. Every Wednesday we proudly display the stars earned with RISE certificates. We strive to help students grow more confident, self reliant, and independent by highlighting expected behavior.
Parent volunteers offer a huge resource and support base for the school community while showing their children the importance of participating in the larger community. I was thrilled to have three parents interested in joining the advisory council this year. It was the first time in a few years we needed to have an election. Thank you to Jane Moore, Prajakta Buva, and Anirban Dhar for their interest. On Wednesday, Mrs. Holmes (PTC representative) opened the ballots and counted your votes. Jane Moore and Prajakta Buva are the new parent representatives. They join Mr. House and Mr. Hillam. The first meeting is next Tuesday, September 26th at 4:30PM.
Mrs. Mallon has kindly organized Cookie's Crew to help maintain our beautiful space in the Nab Lab. Cookie's Crew invites you to join them on Friday mornings in the Nab Lab. Cookie's Crew is a group of PTC volunteers who maintain and develop the gardens in the Nab Lab. This year, they will meet every Friday morning between 9:00 - 10:30, weather permitting. This is a drop in event, and you do not have to come every week. Siblings are welcome. To sign up for Cookie's Crew notices, and for more information about other opportunities to connect with the PTC, check out the volunteer information here: http://westford.org/nabpto/index.php/volunteer/
Next week second grade classes will visit the Living Lab to learn about animal adaptations. The indoor and outdoor space at the Day School provides opportunities for hands on investigations and explorations using scientific and engineering practices. Kindergarten classes are going to the Living Lab during the first two weeks in October. Pre-first students will visit the Living Lab in early November. Hopefully, first grade students came home this week with news about the glove they designed and created to keep their hands warm in ice water.
Next Thursday, September 28th, we look forward to welcoming kindergarten and pre-first parents to Curriculum Night (6:30PM).
Have a wonderful weekend.
