June 2, 2017
Good Afternoon,
This evening the class of 2017 graduates from Westford Academy.  Current Nab Stars will be graduating in 2029, 2030, 2031.  While it sounds far in the future, before you know it, your Nab Star will be wearing a cap and a gown.

This morning we gathered for our final community meeting.  I hope the following generates conversation:

Greeting - Mrs. Grady's class demonstrated the Jump, Jump greeting.
Share - Mrs. Maguire's class brought everyone to their feet teaching the Cha Cha Slide.  We loved the music and dancing!  Pictures will be posted on Facebook soon.  Mrs. Heller's class announced the latest Upcycle winner - Mrs. Srebnick's class had the largest collection.  Students were reminded that The Joseph Middlemiss Big Heart Foundation contributed to Field Day by sponsoring The Great Kindness Challenge.  Mrs. Middlemiss kicked off the challenge in January, motivating students to perform as many acts of kindness as possible.  She also donated books on kindness and told us we could change the world one life at a time.  We encourage students to write thank you notes and bring them to the office.
Group Activity - Traditionally, we watch a carefully created video capturing the magic of field day.  Unfortunately, the technology didn't cooperate with our plan.  The problem has been fixed and teachers will have an opportunity to enjoy the video with their classes.  A special thank you to Mrs. Tietze and Mrs. Osborn for taking the time to put together an awesome Superhero/Kindness Field Day 2017 presentation.
Morning Message - The message focused on the importance of finishing the school year strong by listening, following directions, and trying your best.

Many RISE certificates were awarded.  Nab Stars are continually reminded that their behavior matters.

Next week fifth grade camp starts on Monday.  Due to the impact of busing students from camp back to school, the buses returning elementary students home at the end of the day will most likely run late.  We hope that this reminder will help to alleviate any anxiety you may have if your child arrives home later than usual next week.

Have a wonderful weekend.
Respectfully,
S. DuBois
